Gerard commenced his career as an employed solicitor handling general legal work before moving into the field of intellectual property in 1990. Since then, Gerard has become a specialist in all aspects of trade mark law, practice and procedure. Gerard has worked with Patent & Trade Mark Attorney firms and an international law firm. He was a Principal of a large Patent & Trade Mark Attorney firm in Sydney for 13 years from 1999 through 2011.

Gerard’s experience includes searching and advising on the availability of new trade marks, devising trade mark registration strategies, filing trade mark applications and prosecuting them through to registration including handling of oppositions, providing trade mark infringement advice and related issues under the Australian Consumer Law as well as business, company and domain names, copyright and designs law.
